P2P Ngariung was a collaboration between Pari and Gudskul. This program brought together arts collectives and individuals based in Australia and Indonesia. We gathered online to talk, play, and think — about collective practice and ways to sustain and support our communities.
“Ngariung” is a Sundanese word (Sunda are a West Javanese tribe) that has made its way into broader use in Java. Ngariung is a gathering, often to discuss and learn to find a solution to a problem. Ngariung has a fairly broad meaning, but the common thread is to have an opinion, listen, and hopefully, find a solution. “P2P” is peer-to-peer, a kind of online network where files are shared without a central server, where ideas and knowledge are shared without hierarchy.
