This idols-themed celebration revelled in the nostalgia of Canto- and Mando-pop divas, late night karaoke and Chinese wedding banquets. Rainbow Chan performed originals from her new record Stanley, as well as covers of classic songs by Teresa Teng, Anita Mui and Faye Wong. Audiences were encouraged to come dressed to impress, inspired by the theme of ‘idols’. The night included curated canapes and a diva cocktail.

Seven parts sweetness, three parts tears was part of a curated public program developed in response to the exhibition The Way We Eat. Combining historical treasures with dramatic contemporary artworks, The Way We Eat exhibition brought together works of art related to food – that ancient source of inspiration, pleasure and anxiety.

This project has been supported by the The National Foundation for Australia - China Relations.
