Here are some guiding principles that underlie my work, which may not be immediately apparent when looking at past projects. I hope we can work together to honour them.

1. CHANGE

I am here to make change, not just to talk about it or make work about it.

2. RELATIONSHIPS & COMMUNITY

I prefer to work collaboratively and relationally, which means going slow, building trust and reciprocity. I give energy to relationships and community; I do not permit these to be extracted from me.

3. EQUITY & SOLIDARITY

My approach is from a framework of equity and solidarity, which means distributing focus, care, power and resources to redress present and historical imbalances.

4. CRITICALITY

I engage critically. This means interrogating the position and actions of partners and collaborators, as well as my own.

5. HONESTY

I want to be open and honest as much as possible. I value transparency in relationships.

6. SAFETY

The emotional and cultural safety of myself and my collaborators is prioritised in my work. I expect the same from everyone I work with.

7. JOY

I’m here for a good time. If we’re not enjoying ourselves then what are we doing?
